Fees and Insurance

About Insurance

Many insurance providers cover Registered Psychologists and other professional designations within mental health, however it is up to you to check your individual insurance policy to ensure coverage, and the amount that you are covered for before you begin sessions.

Direct Billing for Insurance

At our clinic, we will do our best to try and bill to your insurance provider directly whenever requested. Occasionally insurance companies do not permit us to bill directly, or the process for the clinic to receive payment takes many months. If this is the case, you will need to pay for your sessions and we will issue you a receipt, which you’d submit to your insurance company for reimbursement (for you, the client payment is normally within 10 business days).

FAQ About Fees

If you are paying out of pocket for therapy, we have three payment options. You can either pay via credit card, debit, or through e-transfer. We ask that you pay directly after each session.

The fees set for the different therapists at Rainbow Tree Psychology are based on a few different factors. The first is professional designation. Depending on whether a therapist is a Psychologist, an Occupational Therapist or a Registered Counselling Therapist, a therapist’s rate will vary. This is because the length of education is different for these designations.

The second factor for setting fees is around experience. As with almost any profession, the longer a person works in a role, the more training and on-the-job experience they have gathered. Their fee reflects the experience they have.

The final factor in the fee structure is the type of specialized training a therapist has taken. Some educational training is very costly and can take years to complete.

While we want to do our very best to make sure our fees are set at a price that is accessible to those who need our services, we do have to ensure that we are covering the clinic overhead and that we are keeping up with inflation. This does mean that occasionally rate increases are needed. When a rate increase happens, we will give our clients 60 days notice and will work hard to accommodate those who may be experiencing financial hardship.
