Adolescent and Teen therapy

Therapy for Adolescents and Teens in Halifax, NS

Being a teenager today is complex. It’s a time of growth, big changes, and intense emotions. If you are reading this as a teen, you might be feeling overwhelmed, stressed about school, navigating complicated friendships, or trying to figure out who you are and where you fit in.

If you are a parent, you might be watching your teen struggle with anxiety, mood swings, or withdrawal, and wondering how best to help them.

At Rainbow Tree Psychology, we offer a confidential, non-judgmental space where adolescents can talk openly, and get the support they need. We help teens move through challenges, find confidence, and discover skills to navigate the world with greater confidence and calm.

We’re here to support you in finding the next steps that feel right.

A Space Just For You: The Teen

We know that trust and confidentiality are so important, and that growing up these days, being a teenager is really hard. When you come to Rainbow Tree, you’ll be treated with kindness, compassion and respect. The time and space when you see a therapist here belongs to you.

You are in control

You decide what you want to talk about and the pace at which we work. There is no pressure to talk about anything before you are ready.

It’s private

We respect your privacy. What you share in session is confidential, with a few important exceptions (which we will clearly explain upfront) related to safety.

It’s collaborative

We don’t just offer advice; we work with you to understand your thoughts and feelings, and help you build plans that actually fit your life and goals.

We are not here to fix you, we are here to help you tap into your own inner strength, gain clarity, and feel empowered to move forward.

Our Approach to Adolescent Therapy

Our approach is supportive, attachment-based, and trauma-informed. This means we understand that life experiences, especially difficult ones, can affect how you feel and relate to others.

We use clinically effective therapy methods to help teens with their mental health struggles. These methods can help you understand the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. We can also use specialized approaches to healing if you have experienced trauma such as EMDR therapy.

Our focus is on helping teens to:

Navigate Those Big Emotions

Learn to identify, understand, and manage intense feelings like anger, sadness, and overwhelming stress without shutting down or acting out.

Build Resilience

Develop sustainable coping skills for pressure, school demands, social stress, and future challenges.

Strengthen Identity

Explore self-esteem, values, and a sense of self in a non-judgmental environment.

Find Balance

Work through perfectionism, burnout, and the demands of balancing school, work, and social life.
